Edward Jerome Bachus was born on November 5,1947 in Hartsville, South Carolina to Peter Bachus (deceased) and Rosa L. Bachus (deceased) and was the youngest of six children. Eddie was someone who left a lasting impression on those around him. His love, charm, spirit, and ambition touched everyone he met.
He attended the public schools of Darlington County and graduated from Butler High School in 1965. He attended Benedict College and in 1969, he received his Bachelor of Sociology Degree. He then earned a Master's Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. "Eddie" worked for many years as a Director for special needs adults in Florence, South Carolina.
"Eddie" was one of God's faithful and prayerful servants. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. As a Social Worker, he enjoyed being an advocate for young people.
In 1968, "Eddie" was married to his senior high school sweetheart, the former Beverly Toney and this union was blessed with a son, Gerard Bachus and a daughter, Portia Bachus. "Eddie" was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Bachus and Peter Bachus Jr., and his sisters, Mazaree Gillespie and Stella Carmichael.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Edward "Eddie" Jerome Bachus in addition to his children, Gerard Bachus, Portia Bachus, and Anthony Bachus are two sisters, Dorothy Overton and Patricnola Horton; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; Melanie (Wayne) Lynn and Kimberly Carmichael, Sean (Porsha) Overton and Kareef (Brandi) Overton, Bron (Renaye) Horton, Mary Powell, Ernest LeGrande, Parish (LaWawnda) Powell, Jemel Powell, Michael (Angelica) Powell, Camille (Napoleon) Clark, Deloris (Dennis) Jeter, Katrina Jeter, and Jason Jeter; his grandchildren, who he was immensely proud of, Raven Bachus and Danny Mitchell and great grandchildren, Terkarace Edwards and Raela Edwards.
