Eddie Bennett

Visitation for Eddie "Big Possum" Bennett, Jr., 83 of Cleburne will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas. A funeral service to honor his life will take place Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Eddie Bennett, Jr. will be remembered as a kind soul, devoted to family and friends, who embraced life with passion. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Eddie Bennett, Jr., a cherished member of the community and a beloved family man, passed away on April 1, 2025, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on December 10, 1941, in Tallulah, Louisiana, to Hazel Williams and Lamond Bennett.

Eddie dedicated 29 years of his career to Phillips Petroleum before his retirement, making significant contributions during his time there. Outside of his professional life, Eddie was a man of many passions. He was an avid fisherman who found joy in camping and bird hunting. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his affection for all types of animals. Eddie also enjoyed bowling, cooking, and nurturing his garden, activities that brought him great happiness and fulfillment.

Eddie leaves behind a loving family, including his sons, Gary Bennett and wife Jada Bennett and Bruce Bennett and wife Gwen Bennett, and his daughter Sherrie Malcolm, his brothers Johnny McLemore, Donnie Bennett, and Frank Bennett, his sister Louise Driver, his three grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Eddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandra Bennett, parents Lamond and Hazel Bennett, his sisters Dorothy Harris, Rosemary Padilla, Bobbie Jo Fitzgerald, Ima Jean Driver, and his brother Calvin Bennett. Eddie's legacy is one of love and dedication to family, and his absence will be deeply felt.
