Eddie Leon McEwen passed from this earth on Monday, July 1st, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Eddie was born on April 15, 1951, in Sherman, TX at Wilson N Jones hospital to Wanda/ Jean and Bonnie Eli McEwen, as their second oldest child.
Eddie is survived by his wife of almost 37 years, Toya McEwen and children Kirk Edward McEwen and wife Kim of The Colony, Michael Robert McEwen and wife Heather of Argyle, Jody Jean Lafoy husband Wayne of Howe, Crystal Fry and Chris of Omaha, NE, Teresa Hall and husband Martin of Sherman, Ashley Templeman and husband Rick of Van Alstyne and Andrea Ganow and so many beloved grandsons and granddaughters and one great grand-daughter.
He is also survived by his siblings, brother Ronnie Joe McEwen and wife Nancy, brother Jeffrey Lynn McEwen and wife Kay, and sister Cynthia "Cindy" Jean Belcher and late husband Jimmy and many nieces and nephews and family.
Eddie was the owner and operator of Eddie Mac's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers in Sherman, TX for over 25 years and served many hamburgers and fries to the residents of Grayson County. Before opening Eddie Mac's, he was the manager of Grandy's on Texoma Parkway for many years, where he made several life-long friends.
He was highly active and outgoing throughout his entire life, always moving, and doing projects. He was enthusiastic about experiencing the outdoors, spending his leisure time snow skiing, and going on adventures with friends and family, riding his Harley Davidson, RVing, and talking and chatting with anyone he came across. He also loved his boat and spent many hours pulling his kids and grandkids all over Lake Texoma on the tubes and rafts.
Eddie loved gospel music and was the music minister at Southmayd Baptist Church for many years. He sang gospel with his brothers throughout his life. The McEwen Brother's singing group will never be the same with the loss of their lead singer.
Eddie had a wicked sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He loved Halloween and decorating and dressing up, often as Dracula.
The family will receive visitors at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison, TX on Friday, July 5th, 2024 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at Fisher Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6th beginning at 2:00 pm, with a private, family burial later.
As Eddie prioritized playing and finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same - go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you and those you hold dearest.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in Eddie's memory to either of the following groups, or your favorite charity:
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or SmileTrain.org
