Eddie Melvin Mozingo, age 76, died on Monday, August 11, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loving family.

He was born, July 8, 1949, in Smithfield, North Carolina to the late Eddie Leslie 'Les" Mozingo and Mozelle Ruth Whitley Mozingo.

Eddie is lovingly remembered as 'Daddy', 'Papa', and 'Uncle Eddie', but will always be known as 'The King'. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his beloved wife, and spending time with his family, brothers, and grandchildren. Eddie served from December, 1967 to July, 1970 with the 3rd Brigade 9th Infantry Division USARV.

Eddie was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Edison, Jerry Wayne; sister Betsy Remonia Mitchell; half siblings Leslie Norwood, Evelyn June, Cleveland, Gilbert Rudolph, Gwen Smiley, and Edna Burton.

Eddie is survived by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Marilyn Mozingo; brother Frankie (Laverne) and Don (Libby); sons, Morris Kent and Kevin; daughter, Eva Marie Allen (Jonathan); grandchildren, Keegan Evans-Riveria (Carolina), Mikale Evans (Kayla), Anna Lucille Allen, Lincoln and Cade Mozingo; and great-grandchildren, JoJo and Gracie Evans.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all of the Hospice Nurses and CNA's that have supported Eddie and Marilyn, namely Cynthia Ferris, Karley, Ashley, Klay, and Kelly.

A Celebration of Eddie's life will be planned in the near future.
