Edith E (Riessle) Corbett 92 of Sterling, Ma, formerly of Arlington, Ma passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2024 with her family at her side. Her Beloved husband James O. Corbett of 57 years passed away October 3, 2008. She is survived by her children, Darlene Alosso and husband Albert of Medford, Ma, James Corbett of Stoneham Ma, Niall Corbett and wife Debora of Avon, Ma, Shawn Corbett and wife Peggy of Byron, GA, Sheila Cooke and fiancé Dennis of Malden, Ma and Timothy Corbett and wife Judy of Sterling, Ma with whom she lived with. She also leaves her brother Wayne Riessle and wife Janice of Washington, NH, her sister-in-law Susan Riessle of Tewksbury, Lois Corbett of Falmouth, her foster children, Toni, and Julie. She was the sister of the late Robert Riessle, Philip Riessle, and Paul Riessle, and grandmother of the late Craig Alosso.
Edith was born in Clinton, MA. Daughter of the late Edith Harlow, the late Roland Riessle, and stepdaughter of the late Lois Riessle. She graduated from Lexington high school. She became active in Arlington town government for 25 years with the head start program and Menotomy manor. She worked at Harvard University until retiring in 1998. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially traveling. She loved to cook and feed people. She was Aunty and Grammy to everyone. She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. She was the devoted grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A Special thank you to her granddaughter Ashley, who cared for her daily for three years.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 6 at 11:30 AM at Saint Agnes Church in Arlington mass. Visiting hours at Devito Funeral Home 1145 Mass Ave., Arlington on Sunday, January 5 from 2pm -5pm. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice.
