Edith Ellen Dominguez passed away on April 14, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on February 20, 1954, in Embudo, a small town in Northern New Mexico, and was raised in nearby Peñasco.
Edith was the ninth of ten children in the Medina-Dominguez family. Growing up in a large household helped shape her understanding of people and relationships. She cherished her role among her siblings and often reflected fondly on her upbringing.
A dedicated educator, Edith spent much of her career teaching young children in both Catholic and public schools. She found her professional home at Ann Parish Elementary School in Los Lunas, where she formed lasting bonds with colleagues and students alike. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom-she remained close with friends and roommates from decades past.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Atilano and Fidelia Dominguez; her brothers Atilano Jr., Leo, and Eddie Dominguez; her sister Rosella Martinez; brothers-in-law Florentino Martinez and Michael Abeyta; and sister-in-law Helen Dominguez.
She is survived by her brother Pete Dominguez; sisters Nancy Martinez (Rudy), Diana Lavato (Donald), Sr. Ada Dominguez, and Cecilia Dominguez; sister-in-law Loretta Dominguez; Percy Dominguez; and her dear friend whom she considered family, Dr. Leonora Lopez.
Though she never married or had biological children, Edith poured her love into the lives of her nieces and nephews, nurturing them with care, wisdom, and kindness.
A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m, on May 31, 2025, at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 811 Guaymas Pl NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
