Edith Elizabeth Kuebler passed away on June 22, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio at the age of 98. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her!
Edie was born June 19, 1927, to Marcella (Dressell) and Henry Meyer. She was the oldest of 6 children. Her mother died when Edith was 13 and she became the "mother" to her family.
She was a graduate of Whitney High School and then worked as a receptionist for Dunne & Bradstreet until the birth of her first child.
She married James H. Kuebler in 1949 and she became a stay-at-home mother in 1950 when the first of 8 children was born: Jim became a pharmacist and was the owner of Bellevue Pharmacy. They lived in west Toledo from that time on. Some of the best times were vacations spent every summer at various lakes in the Irish Hills.
Later in life, at the age of 53, when her youngest child was now in school, she became the librarian at Blessed Sacrament School. Two years later, her husband, Jim, died after a long illness. She was now a single mom with 2 children still in high school and 2 in grade school. She remained the librarian until retirement.
She lived her entire life in Toledo, Ohio, raising children and spending time with family and friends. She gave of herself to all who needed her help. Family was very important to her. With her own children to care for she also found time to help family members in need. Her faith was also a mainstay in her life. She was a lay distributor for many years at Blessed Sacrament, serving in this capacity until the age of 86. She was an independent woman who lived life in her way, and always for the good.
Her biggest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Every Sunday all gathered at the family home, a great family tradition. This continued until the day she died.
Edith was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament where she was active in the Parent's Association when her children were in school, eventually becoming the President of this organization. Later in her life she joined the Senior's group, serving as Secretary of this group until the age of 89. She spent many years on various bowling leagues and also volunteered at St. Anne's Hospital in the Mammography department. Hers was a full life, and she was surrounded by many who loved her.
She is survived by her children, Mary Lou (Ron) Hotchkiss, Marcella (Tom) Rutherford, Cathy (Charles Lopez) Geiger, Sue (Mike Connerton) Danehy, Jim (Mary) Kuebler, Carol (Steve) Alexander, Mike (Lisa) Kuebler, and Amy (Ty) Fries; grandchildren, Scott Bowser, Hans (Amy) Geiger, James Rutherford, John (Grace) Danehy, Kelly (Mark) Braun, Bryan (Jen) Danehy, Brett (Amanda) Kuebler, Chad (Kirsten) Kuebler, Corey Alexander, Kevin (Bailee) Alexander, Jack Kuebler, Madison (Sam) Latendresse, and Ryan Fries; and great grandchildren, Marley Bowser, McKenna Braun, Charlotte Braun, Colin Danehy, Margaret Danehy, Everly Kuebler, Hayden Kuebler, Alayna Kuebler, Luca Kuebler, Cole Alexander, Sage Alexander, Brooks Latendresse; and brother, Edward (Patti) Meyer. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Anna Marie, Raymond, Richard and Harold; and her husband, James.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 10:00am – 11:00am at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 2240 Castlewood, where the Mass of the Resurrection will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
