Edmond E. Sockman 88, formerly of Fredericktown, OH passed away on April 9, 2025 in Cincinnati, OH. He was born on March 4, 1937 to Earl and Katherine (Franks) Sockman in Mount Vernon, OH.
Edmond was a Fredericktown High School graduate. He then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University. Edmond enjoyed boating and water skiing. He and his wife Doris enjoyed going to the River Boat Casinos. He was a big Cincinnati Bengals fan. He started working in construction for his father. Edmond then went to OSU for his college education. Following graduation, he went to work at PPG in Mount Vernon as a ceramic engineer. Edmond then went to work for Kokosing Construction where he worked for the rest of his career. Edmond took great pride in working on the big projects for Kokosing.
Edmond is survived by his wife Doris (Baker) Sockman; his children Kimberly (Rich) Blanton of Granville, OH, David (Cynthia) Sockman of Mount Vernon, OH, Christopher (Tanya) Sockman of Centerburg, OH, daughter Lynn (Kenny) Kurtz, Edie Gilhart; grandchildren Jerica Bergs, Clinton Sockman, Nathan Sockman, Krista McGowan, Bretton Sockman, Angela Rogers, Alisha Robinson, Seaira Price, John Gilhart II, Esquire; Adrienne Gilhart;17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Edmond was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ed's memory to the Mount Vernon Humane Society - Cat Shelter, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050
Calling hours will be Monday, April 21, 2025, 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Snyder Funeral Home – Fredericktown Chapel, 33 East College Street, Fredericktown, OH 43019 with Funeral Services following at 3:00pm.
