Edreia “Edra” Jones, 61, gained her heavenly wings April 1, 2025, surrounded by family.
She was born on August 3, 1963 in San Francisco, California to Sharon F. Edwards and Elam Edwards. She was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1981. Following graduation, Edreia served in the United States Army, where she received an honorable discharge as a high ranking E4. Edreia went on to become an RN BSN, specializing in mental health. After working as a registered nurse for several years, she retired from Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare. Despite an early retirement due to medical concerns, Edreia continued her education. In the Spring of 2009, she earned a master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Akron, maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
Edreia had a big heart and was always helping others. She was known for keeping an open door and had a soft spot for children. She touched the heart of many friends and family. She enjoyed cooking and hosted family and holiday dinners. Edreia appreciated a good book, was a skilled hair braider, and loved to crochet. Her quick wit and boisterous laughter will be truly missed.
Edreia is proceeded in death by her father Elam Edwards; mother Sharon F. Edwards; brothers Thatist D. Edwards, Elam Edwards Jr.; brother-in-law Lewis Jones; uncles Thatist Collins, Coolidge Collins, and Christopher Collins; aunts Betty Waymon and Cara Collins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Martin Jones; son Anthony Edwards; daughter Shana Edwards; niece Kawana Edwards and nephew James Edwards, whom she raised as her own; step-children Candance Spear, Alexis Davis, Tekesha Spear, and Kamerin Hopkins; 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; Grandmother Eloise McDonald; sisters Tausha Turner, Andrea Edwards, brothers Marcellus Edwards and Diamond Morris; niece Shandrea Cunningham; nephew Jonathan Edwards; aunt Sylvia Thomas; uncles James Edwards, Jimmie (Vicky) Collins; Mother-in-law Ernestine Jones; 4 brother-in-law’s; 2 sisters-in-law’s; and a host of family, and friends.
Visitation will be 11:00AM to 12:00PM, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Market Street), where memorial services will immediately follow at 12:00PM.
