Edward James "Eddie" Davis, aged 86, of Sicklerville, NJ, formerly of Phila, PA, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024. Born on May 19, 1938, to his loving parents Edward C. & Mary Elizabeth Davis in Phila, PA, Eddie grew up with a passion for the automobile mechanics, a trait that would define both his career and his hobbies.
Eddie was the beloved husband of Julia Elizabeth Davis (nee Briglia) for a remarkable 64 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. He was a loving father to James Davis and his life partner Sharon Roeckers, and a devoted grandfather to Crysta Lynn and Jimmy. Eddie's role as a family man extended to his siblings, cherishing moments with his sister Mary Ann Gerrity (the late Gerard), and holding dear the memories of his late brothers, John and Thomas Davis. He was also a caring father-in-law to Barbara Stacey Davis. His warmth wasn't limited to his family; Eddie's affection was felt by his beloved dog, Chi Chi, who was his constant sidekick.
Eddie was a proud graduate of Southern East Catholic High School, where he laid the foundation for his future. His professional life was marked by his career as a skilled mechanic, a vocation stemming from his love for cars and his innate ability to understand and fix anything that came across his path. He also worked for Lacas Coffee Company. He was a man who truly loved helping people, and this was evident in his interactions both at work and within his community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Eddie had a zest for life and a passion for the outdoors. His love for horseback riding, motorcycle and dirt bike riding, and boating were just a few of the activities that filled his days with joy. Eddie's enthusiasm for automobiles was unmatched; he owned 147 cars throughout his lifetime. His love for fast cars and the sounds of engines revving was a well-known aspect of his character, and his stories of adventures and road trips will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.
Eddie's interests were not just passing hobbies; they were an integral part of who he was. Those who knew Eddie would describe him as handy, loving, and thoughtful. He had the ability to fix not just machines but also to mend the spirits of those around him with his kindness and attentive nature. His presence was a source of stability and love, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created.
As we bid farewell to Eddie, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by devotion to family, a passion for life, and a heart ever ready to love and serve. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
