Edward Santos Manglona, a loving, thoughtful, supportive husband and father. He was born on the 28th day of April 1948 in Sinajana, Guam, and left us on the 12th day of August 2024, while residing in Gig Harbor, Washington. Edward, a committed family man, had a life filled with dedication to service and compassion. His journey began in Guam and brought him to Washington, where he spent 33 fruitful years, creating a legacy that will forever be remembered.
Edward dedicated twenty years of his life to our nation by serving in the Army. Upon retiring from the military, he continued his service to the community by working for the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families. As a social worker, Edward's thoughtful and loving nature shone through, as he tirelessly worked towards making a difference in the lives of others. His academic pursuit at Evergreen State College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work, amplified his ability to touch lives. His retirement marked a well-earned rest from a career that embodied the virtues of selflessness and dedication.
Edward is survived by his wife Nancy Manglona, sons Kelly, Lee, and Scott Manglona, grandchildren Bella and Ethan Manglona. He also leaves behind his siblings Lola Meno, Cathy Cruz, Fred, Juan Jr., Jesse, and Rudy Manglona, and in-laws Bob Meno, Pableta Angeles, Michelle Castro, Sabina Manglona, and Susan Renner. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Ana Manglona, daughter-in-law Theresa Manglona, siblings Teresita Aflague, Bernadita Quenga, Rosita Cruz, Francisco, Antonio, and Andrano Manglona, and in-laws Rose Manglona, Francisco Aflague, Henry Cruz, Felix Quenga, Peter Cruz, David Lemke, Myron Lemke, and Earlene Lemke.
A mass in honor of Edward will be held on Thursday, 05 Sep 2024 at 6:00pmPDT at St Nicholas Catholic Church, 3510 Rosedale Street Northwest, Gig Harbor, Washington, 98335. Inurnment service will take place on Friday, 06 Sep 2024 at 11:00amPDT at Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Crematory, and Memorial Park, 8503 Washington 16, Gig Harbor, Washington, 98332.
Edward's life was reflective of a verse from the Bible, Matthew 25:40, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." His life was a testament to these words, as he dedicated himself to helping those in need.
We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Edward on his memorial page. Let us celebrate his life and remember the love, support, and joy he brought into our lives.
