Edward Andrew Muller, age 81, peacefully began his eternal rest after a seven-year struggle with Parkinson's with his wife and daughters by his side on June 29th, 2024. He fought with his big heart as long as could to stay with us. Ed was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. Ed has been has been described by those knew as kind, compassionate, gentle, patient, loving, thoughtful, generous, smart, funny and fun loving. He will be remembered for his easy going nature, integrity, contagious smile, laugh, the twinkle in his eye and his wonderful hugs.
Ed grew up in Bayside New York, graduated from Bayside High School. He joined the Navy Reserves at 17 and served on the USS Salamonie from 1960 to 1964. Upon his discharge Ed was accepted into a seven-year Marine Machinist Apprenticeship Program at the Boston Naval Shipyard. While there, he met the love of his life, Margaret Morley. They were married in 1972, the same year the Boston Naval Shipyard was closed. Ed changed careers at that point, joining Honeywell and began his thirty-seven year career in technology being a much sought after Data Base Administrator, working for companies such as Motorola, Circle K and DHL utilizing his command of the Oracle Data Base Management System and his heart-warming congeniality.
Ed's hobbies included bowling (high score of 291), fishing (even if the fish got away!), and gardening, He was passionate about his family, animals, volunteering for Duet, Sedona and his friends. Ed was predeceased by his brother Hank. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, his daughters Christina (Matt) Herring, Jennifer (Chris) Wojturski, his sister and brother-in-law Marie and Ken Allen, his sister-in-law Joanne Carr, his sister-in law Mary Muller, his grandchildren Tyler (Alexandra) Kunzler and family, Katie Kunzler, Thomas Lahey, Aiden (Athena) Lusson and family, and AJ Wojturski. Ed is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Linda (Dave) Flory, John (Karla) Muller, Susan (Michael) Farber, William Muller, Jon (Tanya) Carr and Chris (Willaine) Carr and family and many, many dear friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (give.MichaelJFox.org) or the Arizona Animal Welfare League (aawl.org).
A special thank you to Isabel and Julian Zuniga, Isabel, Miguel and Mishel Rivera, Carine Karekezi, and Don-Unique Flanagan whose loving care and compassion helped Ed through the very difficult later stages of his illness. We've known you for 44 years. You were our first friend when we moved to Phoenix. We became part of your extended family for the holidays. After Jason spent 3 weeks in a Tucson hospital you offered your van to bring him home and drove me there. You changed the brakes in our car to save us the expense. You are the definition of a friend. And we will miss you.
