Edward O'Brien, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, passed away September 19, 2024 at the age of 96. He was a man who dedicated his life to his family and, deeply loved for his unwavering commitment and industrious spirit.
Born on April 30, 1928, Edward was raised in a family that valued hard work and devotion. He graduated from Woodbridge High School, where he laid foundation for a life by diligence and perseverance. Following his education, Edward proudly served in the New Jersey National Guard, where he demonstrated his patriotism and sense of duty.
Edward's professional life was marked by a tireless work ethic. He was known for his reliability and dedication, qualities that earned him the respect of his peers and made him a role model for his children and grandchildren.
Edward is predeceased by his parents James & Julia O'Brien and his beloved granddaughter, Lisa Auerbach.
Family was at the heart of Edward's life. He cherished his wife, Elizabeth O'Brien, and together they nurtured a loving home grounded in mutual support and affection. Edward was a devoted father to his daughter, Elizabeth Goracy (Joseph) of Smithville, NJ, and his son, Edward H. O'Brien (Gerda) of Clark, NJ. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, including Edward J. O'Brien (Michelle), and his great-grandchildren, Julia and Ethan O'Brien, as well as Jennifer Gaspar. Edward took great pride in watching his family grow and thrive, often sharing in joyful moments and celebrations.
Outside of his family and work, Edward had a passion for outdoor activities. He loved spending time on the golf course, fishing, and cherished days out on his boat. These experiences brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with nature and friends.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on September 24, 2024. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Crabiel Home For Funerals, located at 170 North Main Street - at Riva Avenue, Milltown, NJ. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ.
Edward O'Brien's life was a testament to love, commitment, and the importance of family. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for his kind heart and the positive impact he had on those around him. His spirit will continue to live on in the memories of all who knew and loved him.
