Edward "Ed" D. Scott., 80, of Anthem, died October 15, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. Ed was born August 9, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. He moved to Fort Worth, Texas and then to San Diego as a teen. He graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, California in 1962. He was an accomplished diver in both Texas and California, earning several regional and state awards. Ed graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1966 with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. It was in college that he found his love for the game of pool which remained with him throughout his life. Ed spent 25 years at NCR Corporation in California and Ohio, as well as several other technology development companies through the 1980's and 1990's computing booms, retiring in 1999 to Arizona. Ed was known for his expertise on the golf course and on the pool table, his mastery of mathematics (including reporting errors to math textbook publishers), and his calm patience with the children he tutored at Anthem's Mathnasium.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bettyann, as well as his children Paul (Maria) of Washington DC, Zachary (Anne) of Virginia Beach, Darren of Denver, CO, and stepson Bryan Peterson of Huntertown, IN; grandchildren Autumn Peterson of Dayton, OH, Tyler Flanagan of Houston, TX, Gavin Scott. of Missoula, MT, Nolan Peterson of Huntertown, IN, and Lucius Eduardo Scott. of Washington DC; and two great grandchildren Gavin and Bryson. Ed was preceded in death by his sister Jordan Archer of San Diego, mother Erma Louise Paradise of San Diego, father Thomas Anthony Scott. of New Port Richey, Florida, and stepmother Annie V. Scott. of Phoenix, AZ.
There will be no public memorial service.
