Edward Paul Speight

The family of Edward Paul Speight of Akron, Ohio is saddened to announce his passing after a year's-long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer's on November 17, 2024, at the age of
63. Ed was known for his love of family and his infectious laugh with everybody being his friend. He was the family storyteller, often telling stories of embarrassing moments of loved ones. Ed loved OSU football, Bengals, Reds, his Scottish heritage and Vermont. Ed worked in the restaurant business and was known as Chef Eduardo. He was a huge Queen fan and
you would often hear him singing. He graduated from Akron Garfield High School in 1979 and
attended the University of Akron. Spending time with friends and family and especially playing Santa at Christmas for his nieces and nephews was what Ed enjoyed most.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward R. Speight. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty), siblings - Jack (Joanne), Kevin (Paula), and Debi (Brian) Secrest along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 1 to 2 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home of Green, 4178 Massillon Road, Uniontown OH 44685 (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads, entrance off Steese) and will be immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00PM. Pastor Brian Nutt will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Akron­ Canton Foodbank.
