Edward V. Streb, age 91, born on October 10, 1933, in Dover, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2025. He was the son of the late Louis and Edna (Greenwell) Streb.
He was a man of dedication, having honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. This commitment to service defined much of his character and would become a guiding influence in his life.
Following his military service, Edward embarked on a fulfilling career as a plant engineer, where he devoted ten years of his professional life to Clopay Building Products in Russia, Ohio. His work was a testament to both his engineering expertise and his unwavering commitment to quality and innovation.
A devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and later a parishioner at Sacred Heart in New Philadelphia, Edward exemplified a life dedicated to faith and community. His involvement extended beyond the church as he became an active member of the Knights of Columbus and spent over 50 years with the New Philadelphia Elks. His civic engagement was further highlighted by his service on the New Philadelphia City Council for three terms, where he worked diligently to improve the quality of life for his fellow residents.
Edward's passions included woodworking, a craft that allowed him to express his creativity and skill. He also had a deep appreciation for baseball; he particularly enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians.
On November 14, 1987, he married Joyce Hill, of Dover, who survives. He will also be sadly missed by his children; Pam (Kent) Swarny of Massillon, Tim (Tami) Streb of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Amy (Kevin) Ayers of New Philadelphia; two brothers, Jerry Streb of Toledo, and Tom Streb of Wisconsin; along with seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Streb; two sisters, Susan Rees, and Ann Rafalowski; and two infant grandsons.
