Edward J. Vacca, Sr., aged 89, of Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Woodlynne, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024. Born on July 11, 1934, in Philadelphia, to the late Gaetano Vacca, Sr. and Consiglia Vacca. He was raised in Philadelphia.
Edward honorably served in the US Army, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of patriotism and duty. After his military service, he embarked on a career at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, where he worked diligently for over 30 years.
An avid golfer, Edward could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game he loved. His hands were skilled not only in the art of the perfect swing but also in the delicate craft of wood carving. Edward was also a keen bridge player, engaging in the strategic game with friends and family, always with a twinkle in his eye and a joke on his lips.
His sense of humor was as much a part of him as his handsome smile. Edward's laughter was infectious, and his ability to find joy in the everyday made him a pleasure to be around. He was a man of faith and fellowship, actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to the organization's charitable work.
Edward's legacy is carried on by his loving family. He is survived by his children, Edward J. Vacca, Jr. and his wife Judy, Karen Vacca, Diane Alberto and her husband Jorge, Richard Vacca, and David Vacca and his wife Debra. His life was further enriched by his 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. Edward's loving partner, Carol Terefenko, stood by his side, sharing in the joys and sorrows of life. He also leaves behind his brother, Gaetano Vacca, Jr., as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his guidance and warmth.
Predeceased by his former wife, Patricia Vacca; his siblings, Angelo Vacca, Antoinette Pinelli, Carmella Johnson, Jule Kolarick, and Anthony Vacca, and his daughter in-law, Nancy Vaca, Edward now joins them in eternal rest.
Visitation will be from 10:30- 11:30 am, on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt 73 South and Evesham Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 am, at the funeral home.
