Eddie and I hadn't talked for several years, but the telephone conversations we had (too few) were always fun and enjoyable with topics pinging all over the place, but quite often music. So, to my fellow Deadhead, may these lyrics accompany you on wherever your new journeys may take you.
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
Reach out your hand, if your cup be empty
If your cup is full, may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home
Best,

I was sorry to learn Ed had passed away. We were friends and high school classmates. I took a road trip from UNM to UC Boulder in 1971 (pickup load of us) and he put us up and took us to all the 3.2% beer joints in Boulder (they served 3.2 beer to 18 year olds back then...major attraction. We had a great time). I regret that we lost touch...my sister Debra Caviness (her husband Mike was also a classmate of Ed's from grade school) told me he was an attorney...as am I....would have enjoyed swapping tales. Sounds like he had a loving family and will be greatly missed. Greg Veralrud

Eric and Jennifer,
I didn't know your dad, personally, but felt like I did. We had been FB friends for years and enjoyed our "friendship ". I pray for strength for your difficult times ahead without your dad. RIP Edward, my friend.

Dad I would pick you to be my father in every life. Words cannot describe the hole left in my heart. Please wait for me in the afterlife. I still need you. I love you forever dad.
