Edwin William Sour

Edwin William Sour, aged 71, peacefully departed this world January 17, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born December 18, 1950, to Maggie and Art Sour. Edwin grew up in Shreveport and attended Byrd High School, where he was on the golf team, and Louisiana Tech University. He was a proud member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
He married Dora Murphy Sour on April 6, 2005. He was previously married to Margaret Stagg Sour, with whom he had daughter Sarah. Upon marrying Dora, he gained two stepdaughters, Haley and Amber. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Art Sour, and many dear family members and friends.
Edwin was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a collector of people and had more friends than you could count, who all loved him very much. Edwin was a member of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church. He was in the oil and gas business and at one time a real estate broker. He loved being a grandfather and was affectionately called "EE" by his grandchildren, a nickname he was very proud of. He enjoyed fishing, watching football and "one-eyed golf" on television, poker and telling jokes and stories. He enjoyed Pilates and going to lunch with his buddies. He was a member of East Ridge Country Club and enjoyed going out to dinner there. His friends were very important to him. He loved fiercely. Nobody was funnier, and the stories and memories of his larger-than-life personality and exceptional wit will live on.
Edwin is survived by his devoted wife, Dora Murphy Sour; daughters, Sarah Garrett and husband Chris, Haley McCartney and husband Michael Shane of Shreveport, Amber Black and husband Rus of Sylvania, Georgia. He is deeply missed by grandchildren, Belle Reinke, Milam McCartney, Charlie Garrett, Maggie Garrett, Murphy McCartney and William Black; brother, Johnny Sour and wife Terri, sister, Stacy Sour and wife Heather; aunt, Carolyn Turner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Ave., from 11:00-12:30 pm Saturday, January 22, with a service to follow at the same location. Officiating will be Rev. Max Zehner and Mimi McDowell. Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law Rev. Rus Black, Christopher Garrett, and Michael Shane McCartney; nephews, Michael, and Matthew Sour; friends Stafford Comegys, Jerry Hodges, Dick Greider, Mark Massey, Mike McGill, Ronnie Mercer, David Myatt, Collin Phillips, Tommy "Stow" Sutton; Jay Carter, Rex Durham, Fred Phillips and Mike Matthias who are having a party in heaven with Edwin.
Please pray for Edwin and his family, especially Dora, who has lost the love of her life and partner of almost 17 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, 520 Herdon St., Shreveport, LA, or the charity of your choice.
