Effie Fleggas Boulos, 99, of Greenville, devoted wife of the late Steve George Boulos, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
Born in 1925 in the village of Mikro Horio, near Athens, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Spiro and Vasiliki Hamberis Fleggas.
Effie was, for many years, an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a devoted Christian. Always the consummate host, Effie loved being surrounded by her family at home. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and YiaYia.
Her legacy of love will continue on with her two sons, George and Dawn Boulos, and John and Melanie Boulos; six adoring grandchildren, Ginny, Eleanor, Gia, Steven, Jessica, and Natalie; six great-grandchildren, Rhett, John Rogers, Margaret, Porter, George, and Marigold, who were lucky to know and love her so much. Her sister, Rothula Katsoulis; sister-in-law, Helen Fleggas, of Charlotte, NC; and niece, Marika Nixon Kekas, of Spartanburg will also cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents and loving husband of 67 years, Steve, Effie was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral with a Trisagion service at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 406 N. Academy St. Greenville, SC, 29601.
