Maissa was a beautiful person, she was thee BEST case worker at community access. She has always made sure that me and my daughter were always good. She had a heart of gold. I miss her sooo much it is really hitting me hard. I will always cherish the wonderful me memories that I had with Maissa and our time working together. She was like a mother figure to me.

It has been a very long time since I was in touch with Maissa, and yet I have strong and wonderful memories of growing up with her in the Belmont school system, mostly from French class. We passed silly notes. When we took turns speaking in front of the class about topics of our choice, I remember that she spoke passionately about feminism. She was the person who introduced me to the work of Margaret Atwood (her fellow Canadian). Maissa encouraged me in my creative projects - brief comments that stuck with me because they were so thoughtfully expressed. She understood people. Maissa is gone much too soon, and it´s heartbreaking. I´m thinking of her family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Maissa for several years. She was very compassionate, friendly, and dedicated to the people whom the agency services. I deeply miss her.

I will always remember her beautiful smile and kind words to everyone. Her work ethic but most importantly her love for her family and friends. I will always consider her a friend/co-worker. My deepest condolences.

I was Pearl & Oscar's dual-language kindergarten teacher in Brooklyn, NY. I remember my exchanges with their mother as being warm, reassuring and wise. She struck me as a caring person. What a loss, and so hard to wrap one's head around. My heart goes out to the whole family. From what I've read about her work, she sounds amazing. May her spirit live on.
