Elaine Agnes (Rekowski) Danczyk, 66, of Stevens Point, WI, passed away on August 19, 2023, at her home from cancer after being diagnosed earlier this year.
Elaine was born in Stevens Point, WI, to Gilbert and Lorraine Rekowski on August 11, 1957. She graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1975 and from Viterbo College, La Crosse, WI, in 1979. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the 1980's and then as a Library Associate at the Portage County Public Library since 1997, retiring in 2022.
Elaine married Donald Danczyk on January 30, 1982 at St. Casimir Church, Stevens Point. They had two children; Adam (Megan) Danczyk and Leah (Nick) DiPasquale. They also had three grandchildren; Natalie and Emma Danczyk and Aurora DiPasquale.
Elaine enjoyed spending time with her children and their spouses, along with her beautiful, fun-loving grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, raising monarch butterflies, and growing pollinator gardens.
Elaine is survived by her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Jerome G. (Diana) Rekowski, David F. Rekowski, and Pattie (Pete) Lavallee; several members of her husband's family; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Kay Rekowski.
Elaine's family would like to thank the hospice nurses and staff for the care she received at home in her final months.
For those wishing to express their sympathies, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made in Elaine's honor to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church - 2151 Stanley Street, Stevens Point. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories on Tuesday at the church in the gathering room from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
