Elaine R. Howard, 71, of Monticello went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 10, 2025 at her home.
She was born on October 24, 1953 in Lafayette to the late Otto and Hildegard (Wehrmann) Rohwedder. She married her high school sweetheart, Mark E. Howard on October 26, 1975 in Reynolds. He survives.
Elaine was a graduate of North White High School and earned her associate degree from Ball State University. She was honored to be a homemaker. She cherished her husband, children, and most especially, her grandchildren. She was a former Tri Kappa member and assisted for many years with the Sunshine Center Preschool. She attended Zion Bethel Church in Monticello. Her quiet faith was manifested through the steadfast love and care she showed her family through all her years, and her gentile spirit was felt by all. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and tending to her many plants. She was forever grateful for God's blessings.
Along with her husband, Elaine is survived by her children, Ryan (Alicia) Howard of Monticello, Benjamin (Melissa) Howard of Reynolds, John (Jessica) Howard of Monticello, and Heather (Chris) Gasser of Enterprise, AL, her grandchildren, Reece Howard, Ross Howard, Rhett Howard, Kali (Zion) Rodriguez, Melanie Crawford, Liam Howard, Emerie Howard, Mason Howard, Lance Howard, Isaiah Howard, Khloe Howard, Karlie Howard, and Jacob Gasser, her sisters, Laverne Haas of Frankfort and Janet (Richard) Dork of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Hildegard (Werner) Rohwedder.
Funeral services celebrating Elaine’s life will be at 1pm on Friday, February 14 at Zion Bethel Church with Rev. Jeff Messer officiating. The family will receive visitors two hours prior to services at Zion Bethel Family Center located on the east side of the church.
Burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery.
