John Charles Todd, 43, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was born in Rensselaer on December 4, 1981, the son of William and Marilyn (Reynolds) Todd. A graduate of North White High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from Purdue University and his master's degree from Illinois State University.
John was a rural mail courier for the USPS. He had attended Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Purdue Sports fan. He was a loving foster parent to several children over the years.
On July 29, 2019 he married Elizabeth Ann McElroy, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Alyvia Allen, Aydin Allen, Logan Todd, Norrah Todd, and Destiny Hittle; his parents, William and Marilyn Todd; two brothers, William Todd and Kevin (Angela) Todd; two sisters, Rhonda Todd (Bill Peters) and Robin Todd (Harry); and one brother-in-law, Collin (Paige) Moore. Multiple nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (CDT) at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. with Mark Reynolds officiating. John's family requests that those attending please wear your favorite Cubs or Purdue attire.
Burial will be Monday, June 9, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Weston Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family to go towards the children's education.
