Elaine Riker Obituary
It is with tremendous sadness that we say goodbye to Elaine A. (Seager) Riker after only 68 years of life. She passed away on August 24, 2025 in the comfort of her home with her family - the only place she ever wanted to be.
Elaine was born on September 1, 1956 to Dorothy (Palmer) Seager and Clifford R. Seager, II of North Syracuse - who have both passed on. She is survived by her five siblings, Russell, Kathy, Larry, Jay and Norman.
She is also survived by her significant other, Roland Joubert; her four children Martin (Jessica) Proper, Adam (Tracey) Proper, Jeffrey (Miranda) Proper and Melanie (Justin) Smith; nine grandchildren, Kayla (Aaron), Ally (Michael), Oscar, Ariana, Elaina, Madalyn, Abigail, Marianna and Benjamin; and two great grandchildren, Magnolia and Perrietta.
Elaine is predeceased by her husband, Ronald Riker, who she cared for devotedly through his final days.
Elaine held many jobs in her lifetime, but her absolute favorite was caring for her grandchildren over the past twenty years. There is no greater source of pride for Elaine than her children and grandchildren. She could not wait to talk about them with anyone who would listen.
In her free time, Elaine most enjoyed spending time in her garden or sitting on her swing in the sunshine while Roland worked alongside in his garage. That is, of course, when she wasn’t cleaning or shopping at Kohl’s.
She will be missed, but we know she will always leave the front door unlocked and the kitchen light on for us. Oh, and always have extra gloves and sweatshirts for those of us who never dressed appropriately for the weather.
In lieu of flowers, Elaine asks that you consider choosing one of the following organizations, important to her children, to make a donation in her name. Giving to others was Elaine’s mission in life.
