Lincoln - Eleanor P. (Stewart) Butler, 94, of Lincoln, died Monday, November 25, 2024 at The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the beloved wife of David T. Butler, to whom she had been married for seventy years.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Harold W. and Emma (Barschdorf) Stewart, she had resided in Lincoln since 1965.
Ellie worked as a mortgage specialist for Rhode Island Hospital Trust, and in the Resource Room at the Community College of Rhode Island, retiring in 1980. She was a graduate of Bryant College, where she earned her Associates Degree.
Ellie is fondly loved and remembered for her passion for cooking and sharing with friends and family. Every summer she could be found in Little Compton at the Beach House, fishing off the big rock with Dave in the morning, tending to her garden in the afternoon, and enjoying happy hour and cribbage in the evening.
In addition to her husband Dave, she is survived by her three daughters: Gail D. Van Court of Coon Rapids, Minn., Lois A. Ryan of East Greenwich, and Carol L. Thompson of Johnston. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: David, Steven, Lisa, Chris, Michael, Cameron, and Mason, and six great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Dorothy, and granddaughter Laura.
Her family will always cherish her laughing, loving presence, and are forever grateful for all that she has done for her family.
A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 15th at 10:30 AM at Chapel Street Congregational Church, 185 Chapel Street, Lincoln. Family and friends are invited.
