Eleanor Fernandes, age 74, of Castalian Springs, entered into rest on Sunday, September, 7, 2025. She was born on September 10, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Eleanor was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Nanny. However, she was a caretaker to many more. She was a stay at home mom while her four daughters, Darlene, Toni, Bobbie, and Holly were young, and also babysat many of her grandchildren. Once her children were older, she worked at McDonalds in Goodlettsville, Tennessee for over 30 years.
Outside of work, Eleanor prioritized family outings, and she enjoyed crocheting blankets as precious gifts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also a Christian woman and member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Eleanor will be remembered most for her fiery spirit and all the love she gave.
Her memory will be truly cherished and she will be deeply missed by many.
Eleanor Frances (Higgins) Fernandes is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Fernandes; daughters, Darlene Hunter (Wade), Toni Flynn (Todd), Holly Eddings (Andy); grandchildren, Joseph Hunter (Chelsy), Jason Hunter, Cassie Hunter, Christian Flynn, Dakota Fernandes, Kayla Green (Corie), Deagun Kizer, Justin Fernandes, Brittney Whitworth (Matt), Robert Wyatt Hill (Rose), Seth Hill; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Higgins, Stephen Higgins, Brian Higgins; sisters, Mary Lou McMann, Adele Moreira; son-in-law, Scott Hill; canine companion, Tasha.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bobbie Hill; father, Richard J. Higgins; mother, Mary (McMahon) Higgins; brothers, Richard Higgins, Kevin Higgins, and Shawn Higgins.
Visitation with the Fernandes family will take place at Crestview Funeral Home on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Church (located 449 N. water Ave., Gallatin, TN, 37066) at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 12, 2025, with Father Childers as celebrant.
