Eleanor Ann Kirkham, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on April 15 following a brief illness. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Ann was known for her quiet strength, steady presence and deep love for her family.
Born on March 28, 1940, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Kirkham, parents Thurman and Mabel Durham, and brother Ronnie Durham. She is survived by her children Angela Kirkham Brown (Charlie) of Hendersonville and Shawn Kirkham (Rebecca) of Nashville; grandchildren Eleanor Kirkham and Libby Kirkham; brothers Earl Durham (Shirley) and Blaine Durham of Portland; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of Oak Grove, Ann spent her entire life on the family land where she was raised—a place that remained at the heart of her world. Ann graduated from Portland High School in 1958 and spent many years in materials management at Sunbeam Outdoor Products where she took great pride in her work. She loved to read, quilt, tend to her garden, and cook for her extended family. She will be dearly missed by many.
Services will be held at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin with visitation on Friday, April 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. A private burial will follow the service.
