Eleanor "Ellie" P. McGonagle, age 85, passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Ellie was raised and educated in St. Mark's Parish in Dorchester and graduated Archbishop Cushing High in 1954.

Ellie married her beloved husband of 65 years, Andrew, in 1959. They started a family together in Dorchester then moved to Plymouth in 1972 where Ellie and Andrew lived for many years raising their family.

Ellie's life always revolved around those she loved, most especially her family. She was very involved in her parish, St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Manomet, working in the rectory for more than 25 years. Other activities included hosting a weekly rosary group with fellow parishioners, organizing dinner dances, and Thanksgiving dinners for the elderly. She volunteered countless hours with the LaSalette Shrine communities in Enfield, NH and Attleboro, MA, forming life-long friendships. She also became very involved with the Cursillo retreats at the Holy Cross Retreat house.

Ellie loved to host family and friends and had a knack for making each person feel like they were the most important person in the room. She was in her element shopping for gifts and making gift baskets for others. She never arrived anywhere empty handed, whether it was a friend's house or a doctor's visit. Ellie also loved travelling. She often visited Ireland, catching up with cousins and extended family. She enjoyed trips to the Holy Land, Medjugorje, and LaSalette, France. Ellie was blessed with a large family who will remember her for her faith, her sense of humor, her deep love for her family and devotion to her husband, Andy.

Ellie is survived by her husband Andrew McGonagle of Quincy, formerly of Plymouth, her loving children Neil McGonagle and his wife, the late Martha Reese McGonagle of Bourne, Kevin McGonagle of Manchester, John McGonagle and companion Sue Stewart of Wentworth, NH, Paul McGonagle and his wife Marie of Grafton, NH, Jim McGonagle and his wife Patty of Plymouth, Rich McGonagle of Bourne, Karen Hoffmeister and her husband Brett of Pocasset, and Debbie Drew and her husband George of Methuen, her grandchildren Jaryd, Lauryn, Jordan, Mairead, Conor, Brogan, Meghan, Molly, Ryan, Emma, Ashlinn, Matthew, Declan, Patrick, John, and Erin, and her great-grandchildren Delaney and Ella. Ellie is also the loving sister of Connie Gill, Kathleen Keane, Rich Murphy, and the late Marie Grabowski, Larry Murphy, Frank Murphy, Kevin Murphy, and Claire Molisse.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Ellie on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.)
