Elizabeth B. Abrams

Martha Elizabeth "Betsey" Braschler was born on October 23, 1950 to Eugene W. and Phoebe Janice Allen Braschler in Savanna, Illinois. She attended Atlanta Baptist, Mercer University, and Georgia State University. She graduated with a degree in Literature. She continued her education in Divinity Studies. While working at Emory she met the love of her life, Michael David Abrams. He preceded her in death as did her mother and father. Betsey and Michael were married May 3, 1980. Soon they were blessed with a son, Matthew Benjamin Abrams, and then a daughter, Rebecca Anne Abrams. Those surviving Betsey are her daughter Becky, son Matthew (Rena), and grandchildren Joseph and Esther. Also surviving are Ellen Patterson Braschler Eve (Phil), Laura Braschler Nash (Don), Lisa Jane Braschler, David Weaver Braschler (Amy) and Julie Anna Braschler, as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Betsey is also survived by Roberta "Bobbie" Nathanson Abrams, Alan (Laura) Abrams and Carolyn Abrams-Dyer. Betsey lived in Decatur, Georgia at the time of her death on December 27, 2025. Betsey's funeral and interment took place January 2, 2026.
