Elizabeth ("Libby") Carr Nicholson Fisher was born on May 22, 1937, near Pine Hall, N.C., where she spent her early childhood, before moving to High Point with her late parents, Augusta and George Nicholson. Libby grew up in High Point with her brothers, James Robert ("Bob") Nicholson and the late George Richard ("Dick") Nicholson.

Libby met her late husband, Louis Joseph ("Nick") Fisher III, in high school while working at High Point City Lake Park. The two married in 1958 while students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where Libby earned a degree in nursing- a career reflective of her deeply caring spirit. The friends Libby met as a Tar Heel remained close for decades, regularly gathering for trips to the beach.

The love Libby and Nick shared multiplied as they raised their two kids, Karen Fisher Gooding, who passed away in 2024, and Louis Joseph ("Joe") Fisher IV. Libby was a deeply caring mother. Her cooking was always the cornerstone of family gatherings, including weekly meals with her children and grandchildren. It fueled the family's love for one another. Her son will especially remember her homemade meals that brought his friends around the table weekly as they rushed home from High Point Central High School on lunch breaks.

Libby's family and friends will remember her for her gentle kindness and quick wit. They will miss her green thumb, sometimes-burnt yeast rolls, trips to Mayberry restaurant, and books gifted at Christmas-often pre-read by Libby, a voracious reader. Her grandchildren will remember "Grammy's" unwavering support, whether she was cheering them on at every musical performance or setting the ultimate example of care and open-mindedness.

Throughout her life, Libby lived her Christian faith, humbly and sincerely. She led the Memorial Committee at St. Mary's Episcopal church and regularly volunteered at the church's front desk and with Meals on Wheels.

On November 2, 2025, Libby passed away at the age of 88 surrounded by her devoted family. The love she radiated into the world was reflected back to her by her family and friends who loved her deeply.

Libby is survived by her brother, Bob, and his wife, Amy Nicholson; her son, Joe, and his wife, Emily

Fisher; and their daughters, Eliza and Annabelle Fisher. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Jim Gooding, and his children, Elizabeth Gooding and her wife, Elizabeth Miller, and Thomas Gooding and his wife, Safiyya Adam. She was the beloved great-grandmother of William Fisher Miller-Gooding.

Libby's life will be celebrated in a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Mobile Meals (PO Box 6666, High Point, NC 27262) or Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in High Point (108 W Farriss Avenue, High Point, NC 27262).
