Ella McCoy, affectionately known as "Memaw," passed away peacefully in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, on December 14, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on September 11, 1938, in Louisville, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and matriarch whose love and spirit resonated with all who knew her.
Ella touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime. She was renowned for being the best mom and Memaw in the whole world, a title she cherished deeply. Her passions revolved around her family, and she dedicated her life to spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of love and togetherness.
Ella is survived by her children, Terri Becker (John), Steve McCoy (Theresa), Darlene Calvert (Don), and Sam Greenaway. Her legacy continues with her beloved grandchildren, Denny Faith, Denise Richardson, Bobby McCoy, and David Calvert, along with her 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill McCoy, affectionately remembered as "Big Papaw," with whom she shared a beautiful life full of love and joy.
A memorial gathering to honor the life of Ella McCoy will be held on December 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY, 40243. Friends and family are invited to come together and celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who was adored by so many.
