Elma Gomez Rodriguez was called home by our Lord on June 17th,2025 at her home in Kingsville Texas, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on August 11,1942 in Orange Grove, Texas to Arturo and Olivia Gomez. She was one of fourteen siblings.
She met the love of her life Jesus Rodriguez in 1956 and were married on February 4, 1958 in Sarita, Texas. They were happily married for 67 years. Elma and Jesus resided in Corpus Christi, Texas for 30 years before moving to Kingsville Texas in 1988.
Elma was a beautiful and kind person; she always welcomed family and friends with a kind smile and a warm hug. Elma was sassy and enjoyed a good time.
In her early years, she studied at Del Mar Collage to earn her nursing certificate. Elma worked as a nurse for over 20 years. After nursing she was employed privately as a provider for many local families; her care and compassion was felt by all.
Elma was an avid baker and cook. Her tamales and banana bread were signature trademark. She even had her tamales shipped out of state to family who couldn’t miss her tamales. Elma enjoyed playing loteria with her sisters, daughters, and friends.
She is proceeded in death by her daughter, Lisa Marie Rodriguez; parents, Arturo and Olivia Gomez; sisters, Esmeralda Rodriguez, Terry Robles, Hilda Guevarra and Lupita Bazan; and brothers, Arturo Gomez, II., Servando Gomez, Tomas Gomez, and Ramiro Gomez.
Elma leaves behind her husband of 67 years Jesus Rodriguez; daughters, Rosa Maria Rodriguez, Laurie (Linda) Rodriguez, and Sonia (Jim) Baker; siblings, Sulema (Ernesto) Cantu, Estella (Ruben) Guerrra, Oscar (Kathy) Gomez, Robert (Laura) Gomez, Ramon (Chayo) Gomez, Dolores Hernandez, Librada Cavazos, and Alex Gomez. She also leaves behind the joys of her life her grandchildren, Gray (Tiffany) Harris, Carol Harris, Jimmy (Katy) Harris, Mikayla (Stephen) Lewis, Kimberly (Juan) Vela, and Shadow Baker;12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville; with as holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, Turcotte-Piper Chapel. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Riviera Cemetery.
