Elmer Hinsz (86) passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, surrounded by his family in Zephyrhills, Florida. Elmer graduated from Zephyrhills High School, Class of 1957, where he developed a great love for agriculture. He was in the FFA and first chapter farmer from Zephyrhills and also first to attend the national FFA convention. He served two tours in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. He also joined the Zephyr Lodge No 198 F.&A.M, initiated an Entered Apprentice May 23,1968, Passed to the degree of Fellow Craft October 24, 1968, and raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason December 12, 1968. He served as Worshipful Master in 1974 and just last year received his over 50 years active masonry certificate. He owned Hinsz Brothers Erectors with his brother Harold Hinsz where they built steel buildings in the south eastern states. He owned Bodiford Meats from 1978 to 1983 and Fort King Dairy from 1984 to 1998.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Mary Ann Hinsz; siblings, Cynthia Wilson, Harold Hinsz, and Virginia Bumpus; his children, Daniel Robert Hinsz (Sandra Hinsz) and Eva Toni Hinsz (Cecil Mchan); three granddaughters, Marah (Matthew Howell Jr.), Kelsey (Dylan Hinsz), and Samantha Hinsz; five greatgrandchildren, Morgan, Peyton, Sophia, Brayden, and Miss Mallory; and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Author & Eva Hinsz) brothers Melvin, Calvin, Bobby(Hinsz), and also his loving son Joseph Theodore Hinsz 3/11/61 -3/31/24
Elmer will be remembered as a hardworking businessman who took great pride in his work and farm, and also for his unconditional love for his family. There will be a celebration of life at a later time. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Elmer, please visit our Tree Store.
