Elois Kaye Grindle

Elois Kaye Grindle, age 80, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025.

Born with a kind heart and a love for learning, Elois graduated from Bradley High School in 1963. She went on to earn her degree from Middle Tennessee State University and later received her master's in education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Teaching wasn't just a job for Elois. It was her calling. Throughout her long career in Hamilton County Schools, she touched the lives of countless students with her patience, dedication, and genuine care. She truly made a difference.

Elois was of the Baptist faith and lived her life with quiet strength, humor, and a deep love for her family - especially her daughter, Macie. She had a natural creative spark that shone through in her beautiful paintings and in the photographs she took. With a camera in hand, she could capture the ordinary and make it unforgettable. She was also a formidable bingo player - just ask anyone who witnessed her last victorious game the night before she passed.

She had a deep sense of adventure and loved to travel. Paris, France held a special place in her heart for its beauty, history, and, of course, the shopping.

Elois was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Violet Gobble; sister, Etta Mae Edgeman; brothers, Terry and A.J. Gobble; and sister-in-law, Ann Gobble.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Macie and Chip Ward; her loving grandchildren, Kyleigh and Hunter Ward; her brothers, Dale and Dennis (Becky) Gobble; and her beloved dog and companion, Lucy, who never left her side.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Falling Water Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to trooperstreasures.com

Elois lived a full and beautiful life. One filled with laughter, love, creativity, and purpose. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
