Memorial services will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
Eloise Nathalie Ellefson was born September 20, 1925, in Dawson, the twin daughter of Omar and Ione (Jerde) Ellefson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Dawson Public schools, graduating in 1943. Eloise married Harris Ronning, her childhood sweetheart, on October 22, 1944, and when he returned from service overseas they settled into life together in hometown Dawson. They were blessed with two children, Camille and Kurt.
Eloise was dedicated to her family and community, volunteering her time and talents to her children’s activities and to local organizations. Physical activity, whether housework, gardening, or sports, was pursued with vigor. She had artistic abilities as well, expressing them in her fashion sense, home interior design, painting, ceramics, music, cooking, baking, and entertaining.
When Harris retired, they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, cruising in the Caribbean, and boating on the Mississippi River with their daughter and son-in-law.
Some of her happiest times were spent with her granddaughters, Kursten and Natalie. It was a great joy to be able to help care for them when and where she was needed, to love and nurture them and see them become the wonderful young ladies they are today.
When, and if, Eloise relaxed she enjoyed reading or conversation. She had a personality that helped her develop friendships with people of all ages, near and far away. Her generosity and love will be missed but not forgotten.
Eloise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kurt and Rebecca Ronning; grandchildren, Kursten Ronning, and Natalie (Steven) Hollabaugh; sister MaryEllen Brown; sisters in-law Priscilla (Omar) Ellefson and Heloise (Glenn) Ronning; and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Harris and Camille; siblings, Elaine (Jim) Himley and Omar Ellefson; and in-laws, Leo Brown, Harold and Irene Westgaard, Kenneth and Verna Ronning, Harold and Opal Ronning, Harold and Dolores Pitt, and Glenn Ronning ; and two nephews, Jerry Johnson, and Dennis Westgaard.
Blessed be her memory.
