Elpidia G. Gutierrez, known affectionately as Pia to her loved ones, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in San Antonio, Texas, on October 13, 2025. Born on March 4, 1935, in Camargo, Tamaulipas, México, Pia brought joy and warmth into the lives of those around her from a very young age. She lived a rich and vibrant life, marked by an unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community.
Pia will always be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and friend, whose capacity to love knew no bounds. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness that touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her passion for life was evident in the way she cherished every moment with her family, relished the company of friends, and found pleasure in the simple things, such as tending to her garden, sewing, cooking her favorite recipes, and moving gracefully on the dance floor to live music. Pia's vibrant spirit and welcoming nature made her home a haven for all.
Prior to marriage, a licensed cosmetologist by trade, Pia charted her own path as an independent businesswoman, creating beauty and joy in her daily work. Her dedication to her craft was second only to her dedication to her family, to whom she was a beacon of strength and love.
Pia's memory will be eternally cherished and kept alive by her sons, Johnny Gutierrez and his wife Lisa, Javier Gutierrez, Ricky Gutierrez, and Fredrick Gutierrez and his wife Victoria. Her laughter and wisdom will be deeply missed by her brother, Alejandro Garcia Diaz; and her sister, Araceli Garcia de Cavazos (Hector). Her legacy continues to shine brightly through her beloved grandchildren, Javier Caesar Gutierrez, Gabriela Gutierrez, Nathaniel Gutierrez with his wife Corrin, Gianna Nadine Gutierrez, and Sebastian Gutierrez, as well as her treasured great-granddaughter, Marceline Rincon; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her devoted parents, Santos Garcia Cortez and Herlinda Diaz de Garcia, her loving husband, Oscar Rendón Gutierrez, her three sisters, Magdalena Garcia de Guerrero, Manuela Garcia de Rangel, and Rosalinda Garcia Diaz; and her brother, Joel Garcia Diaz, who all left lasting imprints on her heart.
As we bid farewell to Pia, we celebrate a life exemplary of love, joy, and the enduring bonds of family. Her memory will forever be a guiding light to all who had the honor of knowing her. Pia's indelible impact will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of those she left behind, just as her own life was so wonderfully lived.
