Emily Powell Vaughn, 54 of High Point N.C., passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday September 29, 2025.

Emily was born in Clinton, SC to Miles and Martha Powell. She grew up in Hickory, NC, where she attended Hickory High School and later Lenoir Rhyne College. It was in Hickory where she met her future husband, Steven Vaughn. They married on September 9, 2000.

Emily loved all her friends dearly and made many meaningful relationships through her work at Phoenix Academy, where she was employed for 9 years.

She was an animal lover, loved to cook, read and was also an artist enjoying painting and crafting. She enjoyed volunteering her time as a youth leader at Covenant United Methodist Church and helping make an impact on young girls' lives. She loved entertaining her friends in her beautiful home. She especially loved spending time with her family near and far.

Most importantly to Emily, she was devoted as wife to Steven and mother to their two daughters Maddie and Chloe.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Miles and Martha Powell of Hickory.

She is survived in the home by her husband, Steven Vaughn of High Point and their daughters, Madison Claire (Maddie) Vaughn and Chloe Elizabeth Vaughn both living in Raleigh, N.C.

Also surviving are Emily's siblings, Gena Powell of Hickory N.C.; Phil Powell (wife Amy and their son Miles) of Hampstead N.C. and Melissa Powell Hylton of High Point N.C.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in the form of donations to Family Services of the Piedmont, Mental Health Associates of the Triad, or the Kellin Foundation.
