Emma Messmore, 83
Emma Messmore, 83 of Ashland passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 2, 2024 in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on December 7, 1940 the daughter of the late Paul and Grace (nee Farner) Messmore.
Emma graduated from Black River High School, Class of 1960.
She retired in December of 2002 with more than 40 years of service from Abbott Laboratories in Ashland. Emma was also a member of the United SteelWorkers Local 196L, and remained active following retirement as the treasurer of the retirees.
In her retirement years she enjoyed volunteering at the Council on Ageing.
Emma was a devoted member of Ashland Christian Church. For more than 30 years, Emma was a part of Teen Mission USA, an organization that partners with the global church in sending disciples who make disciples and establish missional churches to the glory of God. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Shirley Messmore of Savannah; five nieces and nephews, Thomas (Laura) Messmore of Shiloh, Mike Messmore of Ravenna, Pamela (Kelly) Clemons of Savannah; Stacey (Greg) Nelson of Ashland, and Mark (Kara) Messmore of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Emma is preceded in death by her siblings, Larry (Marilyn), Raymond, Harold, William "Bill" Messmore and Okal Shonkwiler.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Scot Myers presiding. Interment will follow in the Congress Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Round Lake Christian Camp, 114 State Route 3, Lakeville Ohio 44638.
