Eric Gerard Hernandez

FORT WORTH - Eric Gerard Hernandez, aged 50, departed this life on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He went peacefully with his Lord, Jesus Christ, whom he served faithfully as a youth minister at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
Eric was born in Upland, California, on September 26, 1973, an only child to Sam and Irene Hernandez. They moved to Fort Worth in 1975 where Eric spent the rest of his life. He attended St. John the Apostle Catholic School, during which time he was a member of the Texas Boys Choir, and Nolan Catholic High School. He then continued his education at TCU where he was a proud member of Brothers Under Christ (BUCs) Fraternity. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in 2003.
Eric had a passion and a talent for working with children. He started his career at the Child Study Center. He then worked for St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Youth Ministry where he especially enjoyed participating in Camp Fort Worth. Eric was currently working at Cook Children's Hospital.
His biggest passion was loving and caring for his family. He married Stephanie Thompson in July of 2007. They had four beautiful children, Eli, Chris, Michelle, who was a real daddy's girl, and the youngest, EmmaGrace.
Eric was preceded in death by an infant daughter, EmmaGrace Hernandez; and his parents, Sam and Irene Hernandez.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Stephanie; his children, Eli, Chris, and Michelle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Lenora Thompson; brothers-in-law, Wendell (Sylvia) Thompson and Josh Thompson; sister-in-law, Debbie (Eric) Sammons; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Vigil Service will be held Monday, February 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in Mount Olivet Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. concelebrated by Fr. Karl Schilken, Fr. John Robert Skeldon, and Fr. Brett Metzler.
