On October 21, 2023, Erma Clara Stokes Montierth, 93, peacefully passed away in her West Haven, Utah home. Erma endured to the end and is now reunited in a glorious reunion with Roy, her eternal companion, and a myriad of loved ones who have already passed.

Erma, the eldest child of Nathan Glen and Clara Stokes, was born on May 20, 1930, in Long Beach, California. She grew up with three sisters, four brothers, and three half-sisters. Erma graduated from Weber High School.

On April 20, 1949, Erma married Roy Wesley Montierth in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they were blessed with two daughters and ten sons, and their family expanded to include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. After marrying Roy, Erma spent much of her life in West Ogden before moving to West Haven.

She is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings in the Ogden 16th, Wilson 2nd, and Country Meadows Wards, as well as in the Ogden Temple. Erma has a deep love for music and has authored many religious compositions. Her most notable achievement is the creation of the musical production "Miracle of Song," which was performed at the Ogden Tabernacle from 1990 to 1995. She enjoyed sending time with family and friends, quilting, rug making, singing, playing Scrabble, gardening, serving others and worshipping in church.

Erma is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Fred) Linford and Colleen (Terry) Hamblin; her sons, Brad (Cathy) Montierth, David Montierth, John (Donna) Montierth, Reed (Jennifer) Montierth, Darin (Jana) Montierth, Glade (Laura) Montierth, and Tracy (Rebecca) Montierth; her sisters, Joyce (Lamar) Wall and Ann (Steven) Rackham; and her brothers, E.J. (Betty) Stokes, Don (Linda) Stokes, and Dale (Karen) Stokes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her sons, Wesley (Kathy) Montierth, Alan (Anne Richards) Montierth, and Rodney Montierth; her grandson, Scott Montierth; her great-grandson, Jarren Johnson; her parents; her sister, Jean Gilbert; her brother, Paul (Jean) Stokes; and her half-sisters Golda (Ernest) Prochet, Bertha (Marvel) Moyes, and Irene (Daniel) Hancock.

Erma, our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, truly embodies the proverb that states children are a heritage of the Lord and happy is the woman that hath her quiver full of them.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washinton Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery, next to her eternal companion.

The family expresses their gratitude to all the earthly angels who have spent countless hours caring for, visiting, playing scrabble with, and joining her singing during the waning years of her life, bringing happiness and joy into her life.
