Ernest Joseph "Ernie" Foit

Ernest "Ernie" Joseph Foit, 87 of Lucas, Ohio and formerly of Delaware, passed peacefully Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at his daughters residence.
The son of the late Clyde & Emma Belle (Pittenger) Foit. Ernest was born March 22, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio. No stranger to hard work at a young age, he began working at Timken in Columbus, Ohio.
On June 24, 1958 Ernest married Nancy Radcliffe. They lived in Columbus, then later built them a new home in Delaware County, where they raised their 6 children; Tracy Whitehurst, Denny Foit, Wendy Fletcher, Kelly Holbrook, Garry Foit and Carey Dole.
In 1985 he retired from Timken cand moved to Cortez, FL, he remained living there with Nancy until her passing in 2006. He has been living with his daughter Kelly and son-in-law Earl in their home in Fredericktown and Lucas since Nancy's passing.
Ernest is survived by his sister Janis Manring; special cousin Alie Wentz; his children Tracy (Steve) Whitehurst, Denny Foit, Wendy (Tom) Fletcher, Kelly (Earl Jr.) Holbrook, Garry Foit and Carey (Brian) Dole; grandchildren Kristopher, Stephanie, Celeste, Adam, Jennifer, Shelly, Sarah, Stephen Jr.,Spencer, Stacy, Summer, Riley, and Jared; 21 great- grandchildren; three nieces and three nephews.
Ernest loved his children, and enjoyed helping each one of them remodel their homes. There wasn't anything Ernest couldn't fix, if something was broken he would take it apart and figure out how it was broken. He was an avid collector of model trains, he also enjoyed putting together model planes and ships as well. Ernest was most comfortable outside, whether it was camping, riding ATV's, driving the tractor and skid loader, or attending car shows, collecting antique cars.
Ernest's memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all of those who were blessed to have the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the generations to come.
Friends may call on the family, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Pastor Tony Walker will officiate a funeral services at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 31,2024 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery.
