Ernest A Hinojosa, Sr passed away October 6, 2025, in Austin, TX. He was born December 8, 1955, in Kingsville, TX to Enrique "Kiko" and Mary Hinojosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Baby Henry.
He is survived by his partner, Sally Niklas; his children, Ernest Hinojosa, Jr (Jenn) and Lisa DeLeon; his siblings, Henry Hinojosa (Brenda), Eddy Hinojosa and Debbie Hinojosa; his grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
Ernest grew up around the King Ranch, learning from the dedication it took to becoming a hard worker. He was a graduate of Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, TX where he was involved in football and track. Ernest retired as a draftsman from Applied Research Laboratories which was affiliated with the University of Texas.
His life was about living life to its fullest. From his boots on the dance floor, hunting with the boys, all the way to traveling to festivals; he did it all. Ernest could be found intensely watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns as he was an avid fan of both teams.
Ernest was dedicated to his family. He enjoyed telling stories to his grandchildren about his pastimes, which always ended with everyone in laughter. He wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
We have the memories he left us; the stories he gave us and the love he instilled in our families.
Services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home in Kingsville, TX. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by a Rosary and Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Hinojosa, Christopher Ibarra, David Hinojosa, Eddy Hinojosa Jr, Steve Hinojosa, Joe Barron, and Honorary pallbearer, Issac Hinojosa.
