Maria Virginia Salinas, 62, a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was born on November 19, 1962, in Kingsville, Texas to Jose and Maria Ofelia Mendietta.
She was a dedicated and talented cook, having worked with Texas A&I Food Services and El Corral Restaurant before later serving as a compassionate private duty provider. Cooking was not only her profession but also her passion-nothing brought her more joy than preparing meals for her loved ones. Though she often claimed she wouldn't host the holidays, her generous spirit and love for family always won out. She created unforgettable gatherings, filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious food. A nurturing soul, she also found great peace in tending to her garden, where her love for nature blossomed just as beautifully as her flowers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Reyes Ray Herrera Sr.; two brothers, Candido Mendietta, Leopoldo Mendietta; one sister, Maria Ramirez; one special niece, Clarissa De La Paz.
Survivors include one son, Roberto (Mariam) Salinas Jr; one daughter, Amanda Salinas; five grandchildren, Joeray, Sebastian, Destiny, Amyshay, Robert III; one great-granddaughter, Hazel; two brothers, Joe (Janie) Mendietta, and Julian Mendietta; one sister, Sulema M. Resurez; one sister-in-law, Patricia Mendietta; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
