Ernie Saxton, a nationally known auto racing columnist, announcer and public relations professional, passed away August 17, 2025 at the age of 84 after a brief illness. A resident of Langhorne, PA., he was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, in 2022.

Best known as the "Voice of Grandview Speedway," where he served as announcer and public relations director for more than four decades, Saxton's booming voice and enthusiastic style made him a Saturday night fixture for generations of fans. He also covered the sport as a columnist for *Area Auto Racing News*, where his weekly "My Two Cents Worth" column ran for decades, often tackling the biggest issues in racing with honesty and conviction.

Beyond the microphone and typewriter, Saxton was a leader in motorsports media. He was a founding member and longtime president of the Eastern Motorsport Press Association (EMPA), guiding the group into one of the most respected motorsports media organizations in the country. He also built a successful sponsorship and marketing business, Ernie Saxton Communications, through which he taught racers and promoters across the country how to secure and maintain sponsorships.

In addition to his work at Grandview, Saxton announced at more than 150 speedways nationwide, covered NASCAR and ARCA Speedweeks at Daytona, and contributed to numerous newspapers, magazines and websites throughout his career. Locally, he was well known for his dedication to promoting racing events, including the Motorsports trade show and the Indoor Auto Racing Series.

Saxton is survived by his son, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Jacki (Evans), along with his granddaughters, Courtney and Carleigh. The youngest of four children, he was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles Saxton and Rhoda Weist; brothers Charles and Francis; and sister, Rhoda Corradetti.

Family and friends are invited to Ernie's Life Celebration on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 2:30-4:30pm, at Beck-Givnish Funeral Home, 7400 New Falls Road, Levittown, PA 19055. His Memorial Service will follow at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the ASPCA.

Family services entrusted to the care of Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, Langhorne.
