Ethel Baer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Ethel Baer was born October 29, 1930 and raised in Newark, NJ. She was the fourth of five daughters born to Mary (Restaino) and John Perna. Her sisters were Rose, Ida, Gloria (all deceased) and Jean. She was a graduate of West Side High School. In 1953 she married Thomas Baer (deceased) and resided in Newark, NJ until 1961 when they purchased a home in Springfield, NJ where she and her beloved Tommy hosted many parties over the years. She resided there for over 60 years until moving to Cortlandt, NY to be with her sister Jean.
Ethel was a longtime employee of the Schoonover Electric Company until her retirement in 1998. She loved spending her summers with her family at the NJ shore. Ethel's passion was traveling, and she visited many places all over the world. Ethel was proud of her volunteer work at the library in Springfield, NJ and the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ where she made many friends. She was a parishioner at St. James the Apostle Church in Springfield, NJ.
Ethel was the loving Aunt to her eleven nieces and nephews–Anthony Palmisano, Romilda Clark (deceased), Gabriel Carifi, Maria Stefanelli, Louis Stefanelli, Geraldine Feinstein, Eve Holderman, John Stefanelli, Donald Briggs, Anthony Stefanelli and Diane Reid. She is also survived by her cousin Marie Newsome.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that a donation be made to the Paper Mill Playhouse
