Ethel Mae Deshotels, a beloved homemaker from Mamou, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in Ville Platte, Louisiana at the age of 92. Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, beginning at 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life celebrating the life of Ethel will begin at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Veillon Cemetery in Duralde. Reverend Louis Robertson will preside over the service.
Born on Tuesday, September 22, 1931, Ethel was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and her exceptional skills in sewing and baking. Ethel's love for babies extended not only to her own children but also to others in her community. Her meticulous attention to keeping a beautiful home was admired by all who knew her. Throughout her life, Ethel embodied the spirit of generosity and love. She never hesitated to help those in need and her kindness knew no bounds. Ethel’s warm and welcoming personality made everyone feel cherished in her presence.
Ethel Mae Deshotels leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her including her two sons, Robert Deshotels (Sandra) of Mount Belvieu, Texas and Wesley Deshotels, Jr. (Missy) of Ville Platte; two daughters, Lula Savoy (Dr. Greg Savoy) of Eunice and Diana Deason (JW Deason) of Pitkin; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Jerand and Louise Ryder Fontenot; sister, Lilly Fontenot; and brothers, Pershing Fontenot and Launey Fontenot.
May she rest in peace, forever remembered for her selflessness and unwavering love for others.
