Ethelyn "Jill" Atterberry, 73, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fulton on December 27, 1951, Jill was the daughter of the late Lewis Waldo and E. Josephine (Crockett) Gibbs. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a certified nursing assistant in nursing homes, where she touched the lives of many through her compassion and commitment.
Jill loved tending to her plants and took pride in her garden, often sharing its beauty with others. A lifelong animal lover, she had a special place in her heart for all creatures great and small. Above all, family was her greatest joy-her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds.
Unity Baptist Church and her church family were also a very important part of Jill's life. Her faith and the fellowship she found there brought her strength, purpose, and a deep sense of belonging.
Jill's memory will be cherished by her longtime partner, Paul Zendt; sons, Michael Atterberry (Ann), Joseph Atterberry; daughter, Angela Clark, and her numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry C. Gibbs, Raymond R. Gibbs, Eddie L. Gibbs, Lewis O. Gibbs, Jack L. Gibbs, Joseph Gibbs, and her sisters, Judy Gibbs, Mary Jane Glasford, Janet Foster, and Faye Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Delbert Hampton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
