Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025. Age 85 years. Son of the late Edwin and Otillia (Gauthier) Belanger, Eugene was born June 12, 1940, in Traverse City, Michigan. He married Veronica A. Remer, his loving wife of 62 years, on June 15, 1963. She survives him. Eugene was employed at Grey Iron as a supervisor, retiring in 1999 after 36 years of service. After retirement Eugene and Veronica moved to Kissimmee, Florida for 19 years then moved to Clarkston in 2019. Eugene was a past member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Saginaw, a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Waterford, the Knights of Columbus, the U.A.W. Local #668 and was an assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts in Kissimmee, Florida and Waterford. He enjoyed traveling and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife Veronica are three daughters, Kristiann and John Dougherty, Jacksonville, Florida and their children Andrew, Michael, Patrick, and Christopher Dougherty; Juliann and Randy Voiles, the Villages, Florida; Melissa and Eric Langnes, Waterford and their children Evan, Dane and Sean Langnes; three step grandchildren, Robert and Danielle Voiles, Michael and Amy Voiles, Joseph Voiles, Leslie Voiles; seven step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, Andrew, Isaac, Oliver, Owen and Morgan Voiles; his sister, Camille Ryan; his brother, Charles and Judy Belanger; and his nieces Jean and Michael Bankey and Monica and David Hewitt. Eugene was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jack Ryan and sister-in-law, Margaret Shields.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Honoring Mr. Belanger's wishes, cremation will follow with entombment of cremains in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Knights of Columbus Council #4232 and the 4th Degree Knights will pray the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, St. Benedict Catholic Church or Mustard Seed.
