Eugene (also known as Gene and Peepaw) was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Urner Ganske, his sisters Hildegard Farmer and Rose Moore, and his brother George Ganske. Eugene is survived by his son Melvin and wife Sheryl Ganske of Boling, and granddaughters Lauren Rae Seiler and Sierra Mae Ganske.
Eugene was raised around the San Bernard River bottom, and attended school in Needville, Burr, Iago and Boling. Eugene came back home, married Dorothy, worked for Texas Gulf Sulfur and retired in 1982. His hobbies included raising and breaking quarter horses, farming and working on old tractors. He was also heavily involved in his church life, leading bible studies and serving in church leadership.
After Melvin was born, Gene coached many baseball teams, and passed on his love of the outdoors, hunting and ranching to his son. Then through his granddaughters, sports and softball become a big part of his life.
Eugene was always ready to try new things, and often said how lucky he was to live in a changing world.
